ROSENTHAL 1981 Christmas Plate by BJØRN WIINBLAD The Christ child with the scholars in the temple is the title of the 1981 Rosenthal Studio-Line Christmas Plate, designed by Bjørn Wiinblad, the eleventh plate in this Limited Edition series featuring events in the life of Christ. Jesus, while still a child, engages with the scholars in the temple and they are amazed at the depth of his understanding. Brilliantly colored, with a DEEP cobalt blue background and a LOT of gold decoration on the surface -- classic Wiinblad design. Inscribed "Weihnachten 1981" (Christmas 1981), with the artist's signature in gold on the front of the plate. On the back is the name of the series "Weihnachtstellar" (Christmas Plate) 1981 and the title in German. The highest quality porcelain, approximately 11.5 inch (29 cm) in diameter, with attached plastic button and hanging wire. Bjørn Wiinblad was born in 1918 in Copenhagen and was educated at the Royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen. His association with Rosenthal started in 1956 and he has produced ceramic, glass, silver and furniture designs for them. His work is exhibited in museums throughout the world and he has won many medals and awards. EXCELLENT CONDITION
