The Glass plate can be detached from the metal back that does have a wall Hange notch on it In this series of plates, Bjorn Wiinblad illustrates in his typical poetical style the Royal Danish Ballet scenes from the "Nutcracker Suite" by Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky - based on a pantomime by Alexandre Dumas and a fairytale by E.T.A. Hoffmann. The story is about little Clara who is overjoyed with her wonderful Christmas present, a comical, colorfully painted nutcracker. But Clara's brother, too, wants to play with the nutcracker and, in the tug-of-war that ensues, accidentally breaks it. For Clara, Christmas Eve ends on a very tearful, sorrowful note. That night, however, Clara dreams that the nutcracker changes into a handsome prince and flies off with her in a balloon to the lands of make-believe. They fly across the Realm of the Snow Queen, dance through the Land of Flowers and are welcomed by the Sugar Plum Fairy.
