ROSENTHAL 1968 Christmas Plate Christmas in Bremen is the title of the 1968 Rosenthal Christmas Plate. It features a view of the Bremen market square, with Bremen Cathedral rising in the background. Originally built in the Romanesque style, the cathedral was rebuilt around 1500 into a late Gothic church. During the Second World War, the cathedral suffered several bomb attacks and was extensively restored from 1972 to 1985. The two towers are approximately 90 meters (295 feet) tall. Hand painted ("handgemalt") under the glaze in muted shades of blue, yellow, green, brown and tan. The central scene is banded with gold, and bears the inscription “WEIHNACHTEN 1968” (Christmas Night 1968). The highest quality porcelain, approximately 8.5 inch (21 cm) diameter, pierced foot for hanging wire. Signed “Rosenthal, GERMANY”. Artwork by Georg Küspert.
