Artwork (Entwurf) by Helmut Drexler The Garrison Church (full name: Court and Garrison Church Potsdam, German: Hof- und Garnisonkirche Potsdam) was a Protestant Baroque church in Potsdam, commissioned by King Friedrich Wilhelm I of Prussia and consecrated in 1732. The church was mostly destroyed during an air raid in April, 1945. The remaining ruins were blown up in 1968 by the East German Communist government. Since German reunification in 1990, efforts have been made towards rebuilding the church. This may be the only Rosenthal Christmas plate featuring a building that did not exist when the plate was issued.
