Norman Rockwell's THE TOY MAKER Rosenthal – Selb – Bavaria 1968 Christmas Plate Christmas Night in Bremen Designed By Georg Küspert Being offered on this auction is 1968 Christmas Plate made by Rosenthal China , Selb , Bavaria , Germany (Weihnachten 1968). Rosenthal started production of Christmas plates in 1910. This is plate number 59. It features Christmas in Bremen, city in North Germany, known for being a part of Nansa – an alliance of trade cities. Plate shows its famous plaza, town hall, St. Peter's Cathedral and parliament. Artist Georg Küspert designed this plate. He was employed as porcelain painter and modeler by Rosenthal AG from 1916 to 1968. He created several figurines and all of the Christmas plates issued between the years 1964 and 1974. Plate on this auction is marked with standard Rosenthal, Germany mark in green. There are also title of this plate and the name of designer printed on the backside. Plate measures about 8 ½” in diameter. Condition is immaculate with no cracks or chips found.
