Regina Pacis (Queen of Peace), Anna Sancto 1950 Rosenthal Collector’s Christmas Plate (Weihnachtsteller), Designed by Lore Friedrich-Gronau. Measures about 9” wide. Features the Queen of Heaven, Mary, in blue, standing on a golden crescent moon, holding Jesus with two angels nearby. Rosenthal, Germany, Kunstabteilung, Selb. The Catholic Church teaches that the Virgin Mary “having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.” This doctrine was dogmatically defined by Pope Pius XII on November 1, 1950. A nice piece of history. These plates are considered very rare, particularly in North America.
